Yeah, you heard me. I'm usually not one to come on the forums whining but this is just stupid. Last 5 matches I have been in have been nothing but Tank vs Tank matches. 6 HAVs vs 6 HAVs speeding around the map killing everything.
I am a Heavy (V in everything) so I even brought out my dedicated AV fit thinking "I'll get a bunch of kills" yeah, no. My Proto Assault Forge Gun couldn't even keep up with their repairing. It was me and another heavy firing volley after volley at the same tank (we both ran out of Forge ammo from full) and it would repair faster than we could damage it. It just sat there taking the hits and I think the player was probably laughing at us.
So then I brought out the big ol' Proto Breach thinking "got you now". But no, now every enemy with a RR can kill me from 100m+ while I'm immobile trying to line up a shot on a tank that's flying around the map doing donuts. Not to mention that it takes multiple Breach hits to kill a tank so by the time I can charge for a second shot they're either half way across the map, fully repaired, have run me over, or I was killed by any random enemy who stumbled across me (because yeah, my slow ass + a sidearm is going to win against a rifle).
So screw this. Tanks should be powerful, but either ridiculously slow, limited in number or requiring multiple people to use them. This idea that because someone puts SP in vehicle skills means that their dropsuit for the entire match is a HAV is silly. I put 13 million SP into my Heavy skills yet I'm still slow, carrying a weak ass weapon, and die to whomever so much as glances at me.

Then I shot another tank (or it could have been the same one) with a Proto Breach Forge Gun (with 1x Complex Heavy Mod and Prof V) and while it did take a bunch of damage (knocked it to 75% armor) by the time I charged a second shot it was half way across the map, back at full health, and I was dead.
My argument still remains. Tanks need to require more than one person when driving them or be majorly limited in some other way. In order for me to try to AV a tank I need to get into the slowest suit available, with a huge hitbox, no defensive weapon (don't be that guy who says a sidearm = duvolle) and a 10 second charge up that immobilizes me. What does a tank driver get? A crazy fast vehicle that can repair at 300 HP/s, has huge amounts of HP and can only be damaged by a small amount of weapons. Not to mention the main gun that can take out most dropsuits in less than a second.
So yeah, color me p***ed that because some guy put 10 million SP into vehicles he gets to spend the entire match in an invincible death machine while my 10 million SP allows me to trudge around in a defenseless, slow a** suit hoping that someone else is masochistic enough to join me in their defenseless, slow a** suit on the hope that - together - we somehow can kill the f***ing tank before anyone so much as glances at us with an Assault Rifle and ends out horrid quest.
This is just stupid. |
